TWENTY YEARS OF BRONZE:

In their purest forms, Gesso Cocteau’s cast bronze discernibly acknowledges their cause: the faceless nature of non-verbal communication. Going beyond the conversation and taking in the totality of the entire being, Gesso’ssculptures have a gestural language, which is primal and easily understood. From monumental to mid size and tabletop sculptures the art of body language becomes the tangible expression of thought. Her sculptures capture the instinctive gestures of relationships. Couples finding balance in love and friendships, musicians being fueled into a dance with their instruments, angels as mediators of prayer and protection along with solitary figures coded with expressions of introspection. The truth that lives in the posture of the body is evident in Gesso’s work, a truth that reflects the condition of the human spirit.
